Entry into the Earth and space science workforce often involves a complex, individualized pathway. It requires training, time, and a commitment from academic institutions, faculty, and mentors, as well as engagement with professional societies.

The American Geophysical Union's (AGU) Talent Pool programs provide numerous awareness, engagement, and professional preparation opportunities for geoscience graduate students. STEM career paths are often disjointed and nonlinear, but AGU's suite of programming is designed to provide a series of touch points between students and AGU at any point in the calendar year.

This presentation will explore the pathways for graduate students following the awareness-engagement-professional preparation model. It was also discuss the effect of student travel grant funds on future engagement in other Earth and space science activities, with emphasis on underrepresented persons in the geosciences.
