As required by the National Science Foundation, geochronologists and many other scientists manage and archive their data and analyses within cloud-based storage systems. Integrated Earth Data Applications (IEDA), which is funded by the NSF, provides different tools for data management and storage. One such tool is called GeoChron, which is a database used for archiving the work of geochronologists. The Cyber Infrastructure Research and Development Lab for the Earth Sciences (CIRDLES.org) at the College of Charleston has developed ET_Redux, a software application that provides automatic support for transferring geochronological data, analyses, and publication artifacts to and from the Geochron database. To further assist geochronologists in data management and storage, CIRDLES has developed a mobile application named CHRONI, which provides geochronologists with easy, portable access to their data and documents right on their mobile devices. Because CHRONI uses the same Extensible Markup Language (XML) schema that ET_Redux uses, the data can be formatted using customized settings (Report Settings) created inside of ET_Redux. This creates a consistent workflow for geochronologists when working with their archived data in both ET_Redux and CHRONI. CHRONI also allows users to manage their GeoChron login credentials, which are used to download both public and private files via a specified IEDA International Geo Sample Number (IGSN) or URL. The latest version of Chroni (version 2.0) has been released for both Android and iOS through the use of the Ionic Framework, with updates for features and stability scheduled for the near future. CHRONI is an open source project under the Apache 2 license and is hosted at https://github.com/CIRDLES/CHRONI. We encourage community participation in its continued development.
