An exciting new E-Book describes, explains, and illustrates the nature, origin, and geological evolution of the amazing mountain system that extends through the Northern Cordillera (Alaska and Western Canada). Major sections of the E-Book cover Regional Geology and Tectonics, Neotectonics and Natural Hazards, Landscapes, Seascapes, and Tectonics, Regional Cross Sections, Geologic Sources of Minerals and Energy, How the Solid Earth Works, and a Tectonic Model. The E-Book also contains Virtual Geologic Highway Guides and a Digital Atlas with large-format, color geologic, tectonic, natural hazard, and geomorphic maps. For this presentation, selected interactive displays, with numerous Hot Links (Hyperlinks), will be demonstrated.

The publication of the E-Book, in digital format, enables Hot Links to: (1) definitions and concepts; (2) other parts of the E-Book, including color figures, photos, tables; (3) Highlights (related interesting articles); and (4) regional maps that contain multiple layers that can be displayed in different combinations in order to portray major earth science relationships between or among layers.

The E-Book is aimed at readers who understand science at the level of Scientific American, and/or have taken a first- or second-year earth science course. The E-Book, that contains major new syntheses and interpretations of the dynamic geology and tectonics of the region, will also be quite useful for college and university earth science teachers, earth science majors, and professional earth scientists. The E-Book will be published on DVD and on the Internet. The publication will be not be copyrighted and will be available for free downloading. Free DVD’s will be available for the cost of postage. To receive an announcement about the release of the E-Book, kindly send an E-Mail to the lead author.
