WATERSHED WATER QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF EBINUR LAKE BASIN, XINJIANG, CHINA, BASED ON WEBER-FECHNER LAW
Grading evaluation of water quality in rivers is an effective means of river management in arid area. In present study, Jinghe River and Bortala River were chosen as study object, using the water quality parameters in May and July, 2016, including Zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), ammonia nitrogen (NH3+-N), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total hardness, sulfate (SO42-), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), chemical oxygen demand (DO), and based on the Weber-Fechner (W-F) Law to evaluate water quality in this region. At the same time, the statistical methods were used to analyze the water quality parameters, and the principal component analysis was used to obtain the main influencing factors of each period to water quality in different rivers. The results showed that: (1) In May, the main influencing factors were: TP, BOD5, NH3 + -N, COD, total hardness, SO42-, and Cr6 +. In July, the main influencing factors were Zn, Fe, TP, TN, NH3 + -N, COD, SO42-. (2) Water quality levels are mainly concentrated at the degree of 2, 3 in May, and at the degree of 1, 2 in July, 2016. The water quality in Bortala River is better in July than May. This study not only provides the basis for decision-making of water quality management in the Ebinur Lake Basin, but also provides a management paradigm for the effective management of arid water quality to a certain extent.
