ECOLOGICAL CHANGES THAT OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF GLACIATION

FRAZER, C.J., Waukee, IA 50263

This study is attempting to identify patterns or trends in the ecological changes from before and after glaciation by assessing the ecological changes that occurred in MN, SD, ND and IA as a result of the Wisconsinan glaciation. The changes to each state were analyzed and then the changes were observed as a whole. Information of the ecology before and after glaciation is gathered from literary resources. Through the use of GIS, geologic maps were generated to better understand the changes occurring. Our world is changing naturally and it’s changing with the influence of humans. While we have not seen the full effect of the combined changes occurring; by identifying patterns or trends in ecological changes, we can better assess the impact of current and future changes.
