INVESTIGATION OF LOCAL PALEOCLIMATE CHANGES THROUGH TIME AND SPACE

FRAZER, C.J., Waukee, IA 50263

This study was an investigation of regional paleoclimate change during the Cenozoic in Oregon. I have gathered numerous flora fossil images; scored by myself and others for different time periods during the Cenozoic. By using the climate leaf analysis multivariate program analysis tool to derive the MAT for the specific time periods and by using QGIS to plot the temperature at a specific place and time; I will be able to observe the regional paleoclimate changes that occurred in space and time. With this method of observing paleoclimate; I will be able to better understand the environmental changes that occurred which led to the transition of dominant flora and fauna. This method will not only assist us in seeing when the changes occurred but how widespread the changes occurred within a localized region.
