ARKANSAS SUMMER CAMP: PROJECT C.A.V.E.S
Project C.A.V.E.S. (Creative And Valuable Experiences through Spelunking) is a summer program offered in Arkansas that is funded through a competitive grant from the Department of Education and organized by Nathan Windel, science teacher at Deer Public School and Shelley Tomlinson, science specialist at O.U.R. Educational Cooperative.
Students from across the state participate in this week-long immersion experience in which students explore various caves (both wild and commercial), participate in biological inventories, take part in geological investigations, and learn about karst from geologists and professional cavers. A unique twist is added by incorporating fine arts into the week-long curriculum in the form of shadow theatre and music. The result in an amazing and life-changing experience for Arkansas students!
