A DECADE OF NEW URANIUM MINERALS FROM THREE EXTRAORDINARY LOCALITIES

BURNS, Peter C., Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences, University of Notre Dame, 301 Stinson-Remick Hall, Notre Dame, IN 46556

Over the past decade more than 20 new uranium minerals have been described from the classic localities Shinkolobwe and Jachymov, as well as Red Canyon in Utah. These include a diverse group of uranyl sulfates, as well as several uranyl oxyhydrates and uranyl carbonates. This presentation will emphasize recently described new uranium minerals as well as several currently under study from these three localities.
