BLEND DIGITAL AND TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUES TO TAKE YOUR MODELLING WORKFLOWS TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Every resource needs a model, but how can model generation become an efficient process and still use all available data? Geoscientists gather a wide variety of data—such as field maps, soil samples, drillhole samples, and terrestrial LiDAR—throughout the year, but often wait until post field season to update their geologic model and draw conclusions. This talk aims to look at how we can dynamically integrate both computer and field-based manually generated data to gain efficiency in our workflows.

Enhanced computing power and mathematical models enable geologists to make diverse observations and resulting interpretations. However, geoscientist need to ensure the tools utilized are geologically and mathematically appropriate when considering the input data and goal of the geologic review. This will allow the geoscientist to compare and conduct field checks on the computed data with the field-based data collected. Once the observations are verified, they can be used dynamically to update the interpretations, and, in turn, the geologic model and resulting resource model. The proposed techniques allow geoscientists to spend less time modeling at the end of the year and more time to develop a deeper understanding of the interpretations when they leverage technology toolkits along with fundamental field techniques.
