In this study we investigate a physics-based model for the topographic form of stratovolcanoes assuming both endo- and exo-genic contributions to topographic elevation. Our models build upon previous work and incorporate the effects of layered flows and a statistical distribution of intrusive bodies as the primary contributors to the form of a volcanic edifice. Our goal is to quantitatively interpret the relative contributions of exo- and endo-genic processes for stratovolcanoes at a number of settings. We test our model against the observed topographic profiles of mature stratovolcanoes, interpreting mismatches between model and data in terms of processes not included in our model such as the role of surface processes.
