A REFERENCE COLLECTION OF DEVONIAN MOLLUSCA FROM THE GEER ROAD QUARRY IN EATON, NEW YORK
We constructed a reference collection of Middle Devonian Mollusca from specimens obtained at the Geer Road Quarry in Eaton, New York. This quarry is a notably fossiliferous outcrop of the Moscow Formation. The collection is organized by class (Bivalvia, Cephalopoda, Gastropoda) with fourteen types of bivalves, four types of cephalopods, and three types of gastropods. The specimens, when enough morphologic detail was present, were identified to genus level. Our purpose in creating the collection is to provide educational reference material for mollusc identification for the numerous local students and community members that collect at the quarry.
