GEOLOGY-HEALTH & HYDROGEOLOGY-HEALTH MAP: ZERO COVID-19 CASES IN PARTICULAR GEOLOGICAL AREAS

MARTINEZ-SACRISTAN, Hernando, Research, HMS Latin American Products & Services, 2918 Letourneau Dr, Longview, TX 75602

La Quinta (Guajira-Cesar), Girón (Boyacá-Santander), and Saldaña (Tolima) Formations contain volcano-sedimentary rocks (T-J) are geologically similar to the Newark Supergroup, USA described by the author in several GSA papers since 2012. The Bucaramanga Gneiss (Santander) contains metamorphic rocks. Most municipalities area containing these rocks have been certified Zero Covid-19 (no cases) by the Colombian government during pandemic time.

This paper will be used in the Geology-Health Map and Hydrogeology-Health Map Utility Patent (07/22/2019) in order to analyze a relation Geology-Health.

Covid-19 pandemic data from geological areas with the types of rocks mentioned above are described. Public health data from official websites was collected from May 1 through July 31, 2020. Official websites visited included the Colombian Ministry of Health website and other regional governmental websites.

Around forty Colombian small municipalities that are located in the geological phenomena areas mentioned above have been certified Zero Covid-19 (no cases). Most of them located in volcano-sedimentary rocks (T-J) areas have reported Zero Covid-19 cases. Also, several located in the areas with metamorphic rocks intruded by igneous rocks (Pz), such as Cajamarca complex (Tolima) and Bucaramanga Gneiss (Santander) have reported Zero Covid-19 cases.

In contrast in the United States, some Counties located in the Newark basin (T-J) (Summerset, Union, Essex, Morris) have reported more amount of Covid-19 positive cases than similar Colombian formations. At glance, igneous rocks have reported zero Covid 19 positive cases in Northwestern Texas (including Loving, King, Borden, and Sterling) Counties

Atmospheric areas of the above-mentioned geologic bed rocks might emanate radioactive gases and vapors. The study hypothesizes that those could prevent dissemination of viruses due to rock radioactivity. In California (Santander), the author measured up to 15,000 cps in the decade of 1980, and recently, more or less 100 cps volcano-sedimentary in La Quinta y Girón Formations were measured by the author. Future studies about the relationship between geologic and atmospheric areas, and the presence of Covid-19 positive cases are required.

The Geology-Health Map and Hydrogeology-Health Map serves as a tool to inform public health policies and planning.

This consultation is a posthumous tribute to Domingo Mendivelso Colombian geologist as a victim of Covid-19. Also, to geologists Marco T. Pérez y Juan Peña (RIP)
