One of the least familiar but most interesting of large fossil cats is the American cheetah. Their fossils are known from a variety of states and Canadian provinces and each new fossil and new locality gives us a better understanding of this cat. Here, we report on a fossil found in the 1970’s that was identified as a metatarsal of a saber cat from the Haille Quarries in Florida. Comparisons with the literature and other fossil cat pedal elements reveal the fossil to be comparable only with Miracinonyx inexpectatus.
