As part of the undergraduate research project for the physical geology course at Delaware County Community College. The map created for the sediment analysis experiment was used as a visual aid to help draw conclusions geographically based on the soil samples. ArcGIS was the program used to create the map along with satellite images, and GPS systems took the elevations of the specific locations. The map showed the exact location of each soil sample and included their approximate elevations. The samples in this experiment were taken from the general Southeastern PA, Northern Delaware, and Southern Jersey regions. The geographical data was obtained by GPS to get the latitude and longitude of the location which was then used to create the map. The data collected was rewritten in a format so it could be used in ArcGIS to properly display the information. Based on the map’s data and the calculated soil sample data, there were noticeable trends between elevation and the soil size. Furthermore, trends between the chemical composition of the soil samples such as inorganic, calcium, and mineral contents and the elevation were found.
