ADMIRATION TO GEOLOGY- DECORATION AND GEOLOGY- MONUMENT: FAR FROM THE RHETORIC, CLOSER TO REALITY

MARTINEZ-SACRISTAN, Hernando, HMS Latin American Products & Services, The Geology Institute, 59 Independence Way, Jersey City, NJ 07305

According to the recent book published by the author "Introduction to Geology" in Spanish, a discipline known as Geology-Art has different main branches. The purpose of this paper is to show the importance of two of these subdivisions, such as Geology-Monument and Geology-Decoration. The visual attraction of rocks and minerals are important in many societies and geologists must feel very grateful to the communities. It is amazing to read plates that create a social symbols of community, local, state, or national unification through the rocks. It is a really marvelous sensation.

As a causal hypothesis (cause-effect) it is possible to demonstrate that the use of rock fragments has inspired many minds as an unlimited source of their inspiration to think, create, relax, entertainment, and find social and/or economic benefits

As a methodology, a literature review combined with field work in some countries such as Colombia, Nicaragua, Peru and the United States for the first phase of the research.

Geology-residential decoration, has captivated the taste of architects and in residences it can be both interior (bars / kitchen, dining rooms, chimneys, studios, walls, chairs, etc.), as well as exterior (water fountains, rain gardens, parking lots, etc.)

Geology- Monument, it is easy to observe sculptures using rock fragments or sedimentary structures in public areas. There are countless cities that admire the rocks and offer them an important space in many different places, such as the streets of their cities, their parks, their gardens, their parking lots, in front of their houses and buildings. Congratulations to the virtues of the Geology-Monument

As an initial result, this first segment of this geological investigation mentions some of the innumerable outcomes. For example, in New York, sculptures in a pedestrian area showing the shape of the human being elaborated with flat strata-rock. Another example, amazing rock-sculpture in the main park, León City, Nicaragua, where two fragments of volcanic rock represent a call to cease the armed social conflict in that nation. In addition, in Lima, Peru a fragment of volcanic rock is a monument and big blocks as a sculpture in Denver, CO., among others.

The poster will contain pictures from different cities; Anyone would have curiosity and motivation to follow this discipline of geology.
