CASE STUDY ON PUBLICLY AVAILABLE LIDAR PRODUCTS FOR BATHYMETRIC AND GROUND FEATURE DETECTION

SWIRSKI, Angie and CONLEY, Alison, Leading Edge Geomatics, 371 Queen St, Suite 205, Fredericton South New Brunswick Provincial Government, NB E3B1B1, Canada

Many governing bodies have recognized the value of a public LiDAR dataset and have invested in coverage of their respective areas. These datasets are useful for generating flood models, determining water body delineation, monitoring coastal change, and can also be used to identify postglacial features and other items of geological interest. As an organization that provides aerial survey services and product generation from pointcloud & imagery datasets, we will show products that can be generated from this public data using open source software and offer a comparison with products that may be created from higher density and specialized datasets.
