ENHANCING MENTORSHIP: THE ART OF LEADING THE RISING GENERATION (Invited Presentation)

As many geoscientists continue to near retirement, mentorship for the rising generation is as important as ever. In general, generations have different values and workplace expectations; therefore, our scientific community needs mentors who are willing to ‘level up’ and pass along their insights and expertise to their successors by learning effective communication strategies that transcend generational boundaries. This presentation will provide an overview of The Geological Society of America’s mentorship programs and key learnings to help mentors enhance their connection with the rising generation.
