GEOSCIENCES LIBRARY INSTRUCTION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL HUMANITIES STUDENTS: THE MINERALS IN BUILDINGS, PAINTINGS, AND SCULPTURES

WILD, Emily, Princeton University, Princeton University Library, 212 Lewis Science Library, Princeton, NJ 08544

Natural resources library instruction workshops can be more fascinating to students by incorporating the geologic processes and the chemical compositions of minerals into a local context - on campus as virtual and in-person walking tours of stone buildings, outdoor sculptures, and university art museum collections. From 2021 to present, the library offers "geology fieldtrips" on campus to art, architecture, history, and other undergraduate and graduate students interested in transdisciplinary environmental humanities topics. Join me on the journey of engaging humanities students with mineralogy through art and architecture, expanding geosciences education and an appreciation of Earth.
