Mindat.org has long been a reliable repository of mineral data, thanks to its extensive crowdsourced information. With the development of the OpenMindat Data API, the accessibility and usability of this database have been significantly enhanced, opening up avenues for advanced data exploration. This API encompasses several aspects of mineral information, making the data not only accessible but also interoperable and reusable. We present how this innovative tool has empowered data scientists and geoscience researchers, enabling a deeper exploration of mineral data that has accelerated interdisciplinary research in unprecedented ways.
