PHOTOGRAMMETRIC DOCUMENTATION OF SOME KNOWN, YET UNDESCRIBED, LATE PENNSYLVANNIAN (WESCOGAME FORMATION) TETRAPOD TRACKWAYS OF GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, ARIZONA, USA
Here we discuss three late Pensylvannian tetrapod trackways from the Wescogame Formation of Grand Canyon National Park (GRCA). Even though two of these trackways have previously been on public display and are currently in the park’s museum collections, and the third remains in situ and viewable adjacent to the South Kaibab Trail within GRCA, none of them have been formally described.
We described these three trackways with the assistance of 3D models created using structure from motion (SfM) photogrammetry. All three trackways appear to belong to the ichnogenus cf. Amphisauropus isp. with likely seymouriamorph anamniote trackmakers. All three trackways are preserved in eolian sandstone, which is the dominant lithology of the Wescogame.
