Many articles provide recommendations as to address the lack of diversity in the geoscience STEM discipline. Three faculty, women of color have explored trends in geoscience graduate rates and describe the context with national, state, and local data through the presentation of a case study. The case study is an example of recent geoscience higher education data in the University System of Maryland. Additionally, the collective intersectional experiences as STEM majors in undergraduate and graduate programs, public and private institutions, HBCUs and PWIs are voiced through shared accounts. As researchers, administrators, and program directors continue to address sufficient ways to counter the barriers to recruitment in STEM, these recommendations can serve as one pathway to diversity and recruit students into geoscience disciplines and careers.
