    Starting the Process:

  1. You do not have to finish your submission in one sitting. You can return to the portal and add/edit up until the abstracts deadline of 18 June.

  2. Think of a catchy title. For inspiration, visit the GSA website for abstracts submitted to previous meetings.

  3. Determine under what discipline category your paper best fits. These categories are used for assigning the appropriate reviewers and tags for sorting purposes.

You may select up to three other relevant categories.
The list of discipline categories includes:

  4. Select your preferred mode of presentation: Oral, Poster, or Either (no preference).

Please Note: The program organizers will do their best to fit you into your preferred presentation mode. However, they will override your original selection if they feel your paper would fit well in a particular session with other compatible abstracts. The decision of the program organizers is final.

  5. Have available the name and contact information for all of the authors.

    • Please have names, emails and affiliations for your all authors.
    • The system stores the names of authors that have submitted to past meetings. You can use the search function on this page; however, please cross check that the email you have for your author is the same as the one being pulled up in the system.
    • If you are unsure or find more than one listing for your author, it is highly recommended that you confirm the preference of your author(s).
    • Remember, you can always return to the system to make edits until the submission deadline of Tuesday, 18 June.
  6. Write the body of your abstract.

    • Please keep it to 2050 characters or fewer, not counting spaces.  (The online abstracts system will not accept it if it exceeds 2050 characters.)
    • If you want to include a table with your abstract, you can but understand that the table might reduce the number of words allowed in your abstract. Taken together, the words and tables should take up no more space than would be occupied by a simpler abstract of 2050 characters alone.
    • Check the spelling of the abstract's body and title using your own word processor.
    • Copy and paste your abstract text directly into the text box for the "copy/paste" option. All your formatting will be preserved.
    • When both typing and pasting, add an extra line between paragraphs or they will run together when displayed. (You can do this before copying, or after pasting, or while typing).
    • As we do not edit your abstract text, please ensure that what you submit is what you want to appear as your final version of the text.
    • If you're not happy with the way your abstract looks after you've saved the text step, then go back and try editing it in the textbox provided.
