EVALUATION AND OBSERVATION ON THE IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND HUMAN INDUCED ACTIVITIES IN AN ARID LANDFORM OF INDIA: A CASE STUDY
Landform of an arid environment has direct relation with meteorological phenomena and climatic characteristics. Arid landscape receives low and scanty rainfall, extreme thermal regime, low percentage of humidity, low fraction of vegetation cover and vast rocky/stony surface and sandy area. This arid tract experienced fluctuation of repeated fluctuation of climate in the past. Evolution of different geomorphic unit is the result of endogenic and exogenic processes and resultant landforms due to fluvial and aeolian processes and presence of sand dunes are common in the study area. Climate and meteorological phenomenon have direct control on fragile environment of arid landforms and explain the causative factors of spatial morphogenic vulnerability of the study area.There is significant impact of climate change, extreme weather events and human induced hazards in weak and fragile arid landscape. The main objective of this study is to prepare an inventory on the evaluation and observation on the Impact of climate change and adverse human practices in a weak and fragile landscape. Satellite derived data have been used for the observation and interpretation of terrain characteristics have been used. Mann Kendall and Sen Slope technique adopted in order to estimate the trend of rainfall distribution and interpretation of climate variability in the study area of district Churu and Bikaner district of Rajasthan in India. Landsat tm/Awifs/Google Earth/Bhuwan/NOAA/MODIS data have been used for the interpretation of statement of the problem. Ancillary data have been condected from different sources of government agencies. An intensive field survey has been conducted for the observation, interpretation of data and field observation.It has been observed that there is a significant impact of climate change and increase of human and livestock population in the landform of arid environment and gradient of intensity of severity of morphogenic venerability can be detected in western margin of desert landscape due to the impact severity of climatic condition and adverse human activities.
