AQUIFER RECHARGE STRUCTURE SITING TO INCREASE RECHARGE INTO THE ARBUCKLE-SIMPSON AQUIFER, OKLAHOMA

The purpose of siting aquifer recharge structures across the Eastern portion of the Arbuckle-Simpson aquifer is to increase the amount of water entering the karst aquifer system. This is to improve the quantity of accessible groundwater for the public and rural water supply over the aquifer and for the surrounding communities. These locations were determined by evaluating existing fault maps, topographic maps, and lidar data, using ArcGIS Pro. The locations were chosen using latitude and longitude of sites along potential fault features, karst structures, and topographic lows. The initial database determined 71 potential locations that will be evaluated based on land ownership, accessibility, potential recharge, and structure cost.
