GEOSCIENCE CAREERS AFTER THE DEGREE

With the reduction of geology departments and numbers of geology students in the US, along with the difficulty in finding academic placements for recent PhDs, current and potential students need those of us outside of academia to be vocal about our education, our experience and expertise, and all of the advice we can give regarding how we found fulfilling and meaningful careers. Careers outside academia in a variety of industries will be discussed in this session, including my own path from my PhD in rock magnetism and climate science to consulting in engineering geology and beyond.
