DEVELOPING CROSS-CULTURAL ETHICAL POLICIES AND PRACTICES FOR MINING AND SUSTAINABILITY
A review of cross-cultural bioethics with reference to geological sciences and mining will be made, using selected examples and cases from different nations and communities. The roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders will be explored, with a view to considering educational programs that are inclusive of traditional indigenous knowledge systems facing the needs of modernity, and reflections on the definitions of social development. How can we improve intercultural and multidisciplinary dialogue, to make and implement laws that better reflect the diversity of views on what constitutes "sustainability".
