To Submit an Abstract
- First, click the “Theme Sessions” hyperlink above to review the sessions for this meeting. Second, determine if there is a session that aligns with your research.
- If yes, click the title of the desired session to begin the abstract submission process.
- You will be prompted to sign in using your Geological Society of America (GSA) account username and password.
- If you do not have a GSA account, you can create one by following the link that applies to you under "Sign In Help & First Time Users" on the sign in page.
- If you do not see a Theme session that you want to submit, select “Discipline Sessions” to begin your abstract submission. Your abstract will be placed by the Technical Program Committee in a session where it fits best.
- For a Discipline Session submission, select at least one category to which your research aligns.
- Abstract submittal fees are based on member status, so if you are not a GSA member and would like to join to save on abstract fees, please visit our Membership page.
Key Things to Know
- 2025 Rocky Mountain Section Meeting Abstracts Deadline: 28 January 2025, 11:59 PM, Pacific Time
- Presenting authors may submit two abstracts, one oral and one poster, or two posters.
- The body of your abstract must be 2000 characters or fewer, not counting spaces. Before going on to the Abstracts Submission Form, please view Preparing for an Online Abstract Submission for additional detailed guidelines on preparing and submitting your abstract.
- Submission Fees (Shown in US Dollars):
- GSA Members: Students $18 / All Other Members $30
- Non-Members: Students $36 / All Other Non-Members $60
- All presenting authors, including invited speakers, are responsible for paying their abstract submission fee.
- ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE
- Abstract submittal fees are based on the member status of the person who is signed in submitting the abstract.
- In order to submit an abstract to any GSA meeting, you must have a GSA account.
- If you do not have a GSA account, you can create one on the Sign In page by clicking on the link that applies to you under "Sign In Help & First Time Users." You do not need to be a member of GSA to have an account.
- The abstract submittal fee is determined based on the GSA account information you enter. In order to have the correct amount charged, the presenting author must be the abstract submitter. If you are submitting an abstract for someone else, the fee will be determined based on your member status, not theirs.
- GSA cannot change or update the amount the system is charging.
- Submitting an Abstract for Someone Else: The system will automatically list the abstract submitter as the presenting author. To change this, contact rockymt@geosociety.org after the abstract is submitted to have the designation of presenting author switched to the correct person.
- Editing an Abstract: You can reenter your GSA ID and password below and hit the “Resume/Edit Submission” button.
- Submitted Abstract to Incorrect Session: Complete your abstract submission, then notify rockymt@geosociety.org to transfer your abstract to your preferred session. Please DO NOT withdraw your abstract and start again.
- View, Resume, Edit, or Withdraw a Submission: If you have already submitted an abstract title you may log in via the User Portal.
- Privacy Policy: The presenters' email address will not be sold, but will be accessible through GSA's website and other scientific reference websites. For more information, please see GSA's Privacy Policy.
