The National Association of Geoscience Teachers recently realigned regional sections. Emerging from that effort is the Rocky Mountain Section, which stretches from tundras of Borden Island in the Arctic to the Chihuahuan desert of southern New Mexico. NAGT-RMS includes the Canadian Provinces of Alberta and the Northwest Territories along with Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and the western parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Texas. As an emerging network of people passionate about Earth education for all, we are seeking opportunities to support a diverse, inclusive, and thriving community of educators and education researchers in our region.
There are many ways to get involved as we welcome all members, both new and existing. If you are seeking out leadership opportunities, consider nominating yourself for a section officer position and/or serving as a state representative in charge of helping advertise and review the Outstanding Earth Science Teacher Awards nominations for the section. Other opportunities include working with us to create professional development for the region's educators, contributing to NAGT Rocky Mountain Section’s social media feeds, and sharing resources and opportunities on our listserv. As we grow our community, the NAGT Rocky Mountain Section would like to hear from you! What are ways in which you would like to engage with Earth science educators from around the region?
