Effective public communication about groundwater resources is crucial for conservation efforts and sustainable management. This project focuses on the development of an informational brochure for the Southern Trinity Groundwater Conservation District (STGCD) in McLennan County, Texas, designed to enhance public understanding of local groundwater resources. The Trinity Aquifer system, particularly its Hensell and Hosston Members, serves as critical water sources for rural communities in McLennan County, while the Brazos River Alluvium Aquifer provides additional groundwater resources in the region.

The informational brochure was developed to serve as a primary communication tool between the district and stakeholders, bridging technical hydrogeological concepts with public understanding. Key components include: (1) explanation of the district's mission in groundwater conservation, preservation, and waste prevention; (2) description of the Trinity Aquifer system and its importance to rural water supplies; (3) documentation of the district's role in subsidence control and monitoring; and (4) overview of permitting requirements and public engagement opportunities. Development required careful coordination with district staff to ensure accuracy and accessibility of technical information for public consumption.

The resulting educational brochure contributes to STGCD's mission by promoting efficient groundwater use and resource conservation through enhanced stakeholder engagement. This project, completed through Baylor University's internship program with STGCD, demonstrates the value of creating targeted public outreach materials that effectively communicate complex groundwater management concepts to diverse audiences while supporting the district's broader conservation and educational goals.
