USING GIS TO MAP THE GROUNDWATER VULNERABILITY

Groundwater contamination related to sinkholes in northeast Iowa has generated a considerable regional interest. This study utilized GIS to map the regional groundwater vulnerability for the study area by examining the spatial relationships among sinkholes, surface fractures, bedrock lithology, and the thickness of surface Quaternary sediments.
