TEACHERS, SCIENTISTS, AND STUDENTS AS RANGERS IN MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK: A PROGRAM MANAGER'S PERSPECTIVE

DOHERTY-STEPHAN, Anne, Education Program Manager, Mount Rainier National Park, 55210 238th Avenue East, Ashford, WA 98304, anne_doherty@nps.gov

During this poster session you will learn about opportunities to help visitors and K-12 students learn about geology and other sciences in their (and your!) national parks. If you’re a K-12 teacher, come learn how you can become a Teacher-Ranger-Teacher and spend your summer living and working in Mount Rainier or other national parks through the Teacher-Ranger-Teacher Program. If you’re a college student looking for an opportunity to get work experience, you can apply your knowledge by conducting field studies or sharing your passion with park visitors through the GeoScientist-in-Park Program – it can also help fulfill your internship requirements! If you’re a professional geologist or college professor, the GeoScientist-in-Park Program also has opportunities for you! Come spend your summer or sabbatical with us, the National Park Service, stewards of our collective cultural heritage and natural resources!
