STUDENT SEDIMENTARY ANALYSIS PROJECT FROM DELAWARE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE PHYSICAL GEOLOGY COURSE

Delaware County Community College students engaging in a honors geology program conducted a sediment analysis. Samples were collected from two locations, Glen Providence Park and Ridley Creek State Park in Media, Pa. Hand cores were used to gather material from Glen Providence Park and hand trowels to take samples from a exposed stream embankment at Ridley Creek State Park. Using sieving techniques we determined grain size and its sorting. We performed Loss on Ignition testing on the samples to determine the organic content.
