GOMEZ CORREA, Monica Alejandra, GeoZentrum Nordbayern, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Erlangen, 91054, Germany, ROSA-MARÍN, Angelique, NOAA-CCME Scholar, Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, Tallahassee, 32307 and CABALLERO-GILL, Rocío, Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences, Brown University, Providence, RI 02912; Latinas in Earth and Planetary Sciences (GeoLatinas), Ashburn, VA 22030

GeoLatinas was created less than two years ago as a member-driven, circular organization that today has more than 200 members in 27 countries and over 10,000 followers in social media. GeoLatinas emphasizes teamwork and community to foster a space where diverse cultures and identities in Earth and Planetary Sciences meet. The collaborative efforts of GeoLatinas members aim to embrace, empower and inspire Latinxs worldwide. In a short time, GeoLatinas has become a supporting network not only for the Latin community, but also for other minoritized groups in science. In June 2020, the GeoLatinas Blog was born as an ambitious initiative seeking to communicate, amplify and learn from its participants.

The GeoLatinas Blog is a place where members of the scientific community can share and discuss their science, experiences, and opinions about topics concerning geosciences and their community. We publish entries on a weekly basis, in Spanish, English and Portuguese, using diverse formats such as interviews, opinion articles, mini-reviews and community statements on various topics in geosciences. Our work serves to enhance our identities, demystifying the role of science and scientists in society, and diversifying the image of geoscientists around the world. Ultimately, the GeoLatinas Blog promotes diversity, inclusion and an equity space inside of the community and always encourages new voices to participate.

While a new initiative, the GeoLatinas Blog has already become a resource for the international geoscientific community, starting conversations between diverse members and networks to create connections, coordinate efforts and combine their different perspectives. We are particularly proud to offer a variety of scientific and community topics that cannot be found in other platforms, such as paradigm shifts in geosciences, stances on equity, resilience stories, reflective analysis of risk management, sustainable development of goals and the identity and role of the community members, all of this from the unique view of our writers. The GeoLatinas Blog is changing the image of geosciences by boosting the voices from a diverse community, which is offering its expertise and expanding the applications of geosciences to other fields.
