STORIES TOLD ABOUT SPRINGS INVENTORIED AND ASSESSED DURING THE 2022 BIRDSALL-DREISS AND LAMOREAUX LECTURE TOUR

SPRINGER, Abraham, School of Earth and Sustainability, Northern Arizona University, 624 Knoles Dr, Flagstaff, AZ 86001

The Birdsall-Dreiss and LaMoreaux Distinguished Lectures visit many universities, research institutes, conferences, and organizations. In addition to the traditional static lecture offered on the tours, in 2022, a half-day springs inventory and assessment workshop was offered. Over one half of the lecture locations hosted the workshop. Graduate students co-led the coordination of the workshop and the collection and archival of the data to gain professional development skills. Stories of the springs inventories and assessed on the lecture tour are the focus of the Birdsall-Dreiss lecture presentation at the Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America. The workshops were very successful. Variants on this active, learner-engaged component of the lecture tour might improve the outreach of the lectures in the future.
