COASTAL BOULDER TRANSPORT: KNOWNS, UNKNOWNS, AND DIRECTIONS
Coastal Boulder Deposits are long-lived records of past inundation that may give clarity into climatic and seismic history, and insights into future inundation under conditions of climate change and sea level rise.
However, interpretation of these deposits has been highly controversial, with disagreements on mangitudes of inundation leading to these deposits, to even whether deposits were generated by tsunamis or by storm waves.
This presentation gives a history of past research and thorny issues arising in the field, and examines future directions to set a cooperative research agendas and ensure progress. Specific research issues of leading importance are presented, with a vision for for progress in the Coastal Boulder Deposit field over the next decade.
