MAPPING THE EVERCHANGING TOPOGRAPHY OF YOUR CAREER
Navigating a profession can be challenging for anyone at any stage of their career, especially when skill and technology demands are constantly changing. The challenge to learn as fast as demands evolve will almost always remain, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. We must understand the technological landscape of the workforce we are entering as well as grasp our individual expectations of our current and future occupations. From working in federal to private sector environments and developing geospatial information science (GIS) tools for environmental, emergency management, and corporate initiatives, this discussion will not only explore what geospatial technologies are needed and how to pitch their necessity to organizations, but also how to develop our own tools to address how to understand project workflows; continuing education; and nurturing our curiosity in a manner that empowers us to grow.
